Victor Wembanyama and his team are in a state of bother. Having played some brilliant basketball to down the Oklahoma City Thunder in the conference finals, the San Antonio Spurs thought it might be an easy walk in the park. In reality, it was the New York Knicks who emerged victorious. Now, trailing 0-1 in the finals, the team is looking to bounce back. However, at the helm, Wembanyama is still the mainstay. But will he play in Game 2?
Well, the Spurs fans are in luck. That’s because their favorite ‘Alien’ has maintained a clean slate of health so far. With no injuries reported, Wemby would be suiting up without any hiccups to avenge Game 1’s loss.

Having said that, they will first have to negate the Jalen Brunson threat. Despite suffering with some scary moments on the hardwood, Brunson managed to drop 30 points to see his team get home safely. On the contrary, fans perhaps expected a little more from Wembanyama.
Logging in for 38 minutes, the 22-year-old chimed in with 26 points. And while it was evident that it was not enough, Game 2 will demand an even more cynical performance from the Spurs’ superstar.
How Victor Wembanyama Must Improve His Game?
Back in Game 1, the 2026 NBA Defensive Player of the Year could only muster 6-for-21. This meant the Spurs’ best bet only shot 29%. Such a performance ranked as Wemby’s third-worst shooting this season. What was even worse was that out of the 21 shots, only nine came in the paint.
Thus, it is quite clear that blindly playing the ball to the 7-foot-4 star won’t work against the Knicks. Neither will the pick-and-rolls lead to easy lobs. It will have to be the 22-year-old showing his champion’s character and finding a way to break the Knicks’ solid defense, which will help the Spurs draw level.
Well, at this point, the road ahead looks quite complicated. But now, fans will be waiting to see how things pan out next.
